Expert Witness

Our Building Surveying Department offers specialist advice on all building/property matters including representing clients, or acting as single joint expert (SJE), in building dispute matters, preparation of expert witness reports, in accordance with the Civil Procedure Rules: Practice Direction 35 (usually referred to as – CPR Part 35) and providing evidence to the court.

The procedures set out in the RICS Practice Statement and Guidance Note “Surveyors acting as Expert Witnesses: 4th Edition” will apply to our appointment.  We are very experienced to act on a very wide range of property types/disputes including: 

• Community facilities
• Retail and Commercial properties
• Residential property
• Leisure and Recreation facilities
• Industrial and Warehouse units
• Agricultural property

As Chartered Buildings Surveyors we are highly trained in all aspects of property inspection, and are experienced at providing detailed diagnosis of building defects, preparing reports, specifying and overseeing remedial works and assessing standards of workmanship. 

Within our Building Surveying and Architectural Departments, we regularly prepare building contracts and act as Project Manager, Lead Designer and Contract Administrator for a variety of projects in scale and value. This experience can be utilised when we are required to prepare expert evidence in the event of a dispute. Some previous clients for whom we have prepared expert reports include:
